I figure to beat this subject to death with yet another discussion. Here goes. I have a Cub Cadet with a Kohler KT117 twin in it. When I bought it I was told to only use non-detergent oil in it. The guy I bought if from always used non-detergent oil in it. As stated in earlier posts, non-detergent is getting hard to find. My question is this: Can I gradually start mixing a little detergent oil in with the non-detergent when I change the oil and work up to full detergent oil over time? This engine does not have an oil filter so it is an early KT117. Also, this is a pulling garden tractor and does not get used to mow so use is limited.
