As I've read someplace, McCormick and Deering had been fighting each other so much over patent infringement & borrowing money for the lawyers from financier J P Morgan that his "venture capital" firm "owned" both companies. He basically got both McCormick and Deering together in a hotel room and made them form a new company so they could go "international" with the products they had. Morgan's management team was to run the new corporation for a minimum of ten years. As a result International Harvester Company became a global giant.
