I'm not sure about JD's, but IH single front wheeled tractors in that era were common in the part of country where there was flood irrigation. There were a ton of them in central Nebraska, all brands. Single fronts, and adjustible wide fronts were not common in in the upper mid-west area where I grew up, but were around.
