If you have wires on the wrong position it can act like its not getting gas. I don't know the firing order on a Ford but on Farmalls its 1-3-4-2 and #1 is in the 1:00 position and #1 cylinder is closest to the radiator. I don't understand how an experienced mechanic can say its the venturi in the carb if you are getting gas to two cylinders. I also don't know how the intake manifold is arranged on a Ford but if the 2 cylinders have a common intake pipe in the manifold then it could have a hole somewhere.
