No the tractor does not have to be split to replace the seal on the brake shaft. First check the dipstick on the tranny to see if it is over full. Usually an over full tranny is caused by a leaky 3pt hitch piston. There should be studs with nuts, threaded into trans housing that hold the brake housing, not a bolt! Lock up the brake on the opposite side of the tranny and that will hold the brake shaft somewhat solid and centered and then you can remove the bearing quill and replace the differential seal. Your 441 may also have differential lock on RH side also, so replace the seal inside the differential shaft also.------------Loren
