Was the knot left on the twine that was over top of the bale or on the bottom. If on the bottom, maybe the knife is set too high? I recall that being the issue on my 269. Dunno if the knotters are relatively the same or not. If anything, go online with NH & download a .pdf manual. Can't imagine it's that expensive & then you have it right away.

If all else fails, hit it with a hammer. ;v)
