A couple of days ago, I posted a thread about an oil leak by the oil filter on a 24hp Briggs & Stratton engine.
From other postings, and research on the Internet, I became aware that the 24hp has/had a problem with the crankcase gasket leaking on the left side of the engine near the oil filter.
I power washed the engine, then removed the oil filter and sprayed the area down with spray carb cleaner. Installed a new filter and topped off the oil. I ran it in the shop for 20 minutes and had no sign of a leak. Mowed with it for a half hour this afternoon.
No sign of a leak--yet, The gasket on the old filter did come loose from the filter when I removed it.
