We have a stone pad under our bags to deal with the mud issue. The main reason I still use the silos is it harder to keep feed fresh out of a bag in the summer with a small herd. We have 25 beef cows and finish out all of our calves. Right now we are feeding 1000# of haylage and 500# corn silage per day. When we had the dairy cows we did a bag of ground corn and really liked that. We fill 4 7x150 bags and two 14x40 silos. We feed very little hay and have limited pasture. What brand of silage bagger do you have? Mine is a Kely Ryan. Came with an 8ft tunnel but we had the seven ft made for ground corn and now with the beef herd use the seven for everything. Tom
