I was working for a Massey Ferguson dealer when the MF 12 was introduced. None of us had ever heard of a hydrostatic transmission, so the salesman demonstrated how tough they are. With the engine wide open, he drove forward full speed, pulled the transmission lever back to go backwards full speed, then pushed it forward and did a wheelie. He claimed you could do that all day and not hurt them.
