My grandfather's farm had all of his original buildings from about 1905. it looked like the calendar pictures from Montana. Anyway, the new owners knocked it all down, except the house. It was laid out in a slightly European style, with outbuildings lined up on either side, and house at the far end. A poor man's palace, I guess. They even removed the big boulder that made us zig-zag on an otherwise straight lane. The classic old farm house now has a two-stall garage attached to the front of it. I haven't been back there since 2002. Don't want to. Last summer my niece went to Norway where my grandfather was born. They still preserve the house and farm buildings, the country church and the country school that he attended.
