the oil filter base will have to be used from the 830 engine,, as they are different between the 400 block the 830 block,, so Do Not install the early one on the 830 block as oil flows opposite between the two, I do not think on the 400 std you will find a interference issue with the steering like I did on a row crop 400 I installed a 830 gas (284) in years ago,, a extension plate was made to shim it out on that job,, as far as bellhousings they will bolt right in, so will a 6 cylinder cnt
