I have 14l-16.1 tires on my trailer. The gear is a Westendorf 16 ton with 8 lug rims. In my opinion, Westendorf makes the best gear available.
The neighbor's running gear is a newer EZ-trail and had 14ls as well, but he needed them for a gravity box, so he put 12.5-15 tires on "temporarily" 2 years ago. He said as you do that they don't hold up. He intends on putting 14s back on but hasn't gotten around to it.
The top on the neighbors is 23 foot, mine is 24 foot. Most hay travels 1 mile up my field lane at 5 miles an hour. any hay that goes on the road usually goes on my 25 foot gooseneck trailer.
