I went directly to the link you provided and saw your video.
What that is at the gearbox, is an overrunning clutch. It's supposed to catch when the PTO shaft is driving it, and allow the blades to spin free when the PTO shaft slows down or stops.
Looks to me like the dogs in the overrunning clutch are either stuck, or are worn out. You should be able to remove it from the gearbox by removing the nut from the inside of the universal joint. It may need to be driven off or pulled somehow.
