I had a little MF with a perkins diesel in it that would do about the same thing you are describing that is happening with your JD. This went on for a while as I kept changing filters and blowing out lines. I don't know anything about your 5105 but my MF had a shut off valve at the bottom of the fuel tank. I finally drained the tank and found some crud in that shut off valve that was restricting the fuel flow especially when I was working the tractor hard. Never did it again after cleaning the crud out. A poster on here made the suggestion to me to check it.
