The reference below says that there was never any factory serial number records to indicate the ones that were painted white from the factory, but I think a "true" white demonstrator would be bare metal under the white, not red under the white. hat's not always easy to verify. Apparently, once the demo days were over, the dealer was supposed to repaint them red before selling locally. No doubt a lot of guys have painted a red one white oveer the years and claimed it to be the real thing, especially since they are supposed to be more collectable and expensive.
