I have a gray market Hitachi excavator that I bought about 2 years ago. So far, there has only been one part I needed that was easiest to get from a Hitachi dealer. First parts guy I talked to gave the a-hole response of "no support for gray market machines". As I was about to leave the counter, another parts guy called me to his work area and got me set up. That was a Thursday and they had the part in Will Call on Monday.
Even if it was tougher to get things for it, I'd still buy a gray market machine. It was so much cheaper than buying a US market machine that I can afford some extra work in finding things.
