Changing Number of Puzzle Pieces

Someone had a question about how to change the number of pieces on the puzzles. The following only works on this puzzle site. The site that gregww has been using....I haven't found any way to make changes there.

To change the number of puzzle pieces, click on the "box of squares" in the center of your screen. On my PC, it defaults to around 100 pieces. As you can see it gives you the option to make the puzzles quite insane!

You can also make other changes as well. Looking in the top bar, there are other options as well. Going from left to right:

1. Hand = capture and release puzzle pieces. I haven't used this yet, but accidentally clicked my mouse button and made several of the pieces disappear. All I had to do to get them back was to click again. I think this is likely used when you want to have LOTS of puzzle pieces and want to take time to sort them out (like by color or pattern) and then remove all but the pieces you're working with.

2. Dotted Box = This icon lets you quickly remove all puzzle pieces that are not edge pieces. Once you complete the edge, the rest of the pieces automatically appear.

3. White Square with Mountains = Hover your mouse pointer over this icon to see the actual image that you're working on.

4. 0:00 = Clicking on this icon pauses your puzzle. This is also your time counter.

5. Broken Square = Not sure what to call that one, but clicking on it makes the puzzle go full-screen. Clicking on that spot again restores the rest of your Windows components.

6. ? = Help. I haven't used that yet, so can't say how it works.

By the way, you can go back to a previously incompleted puzzle on this site. From the puzzle homepage, you can select, "Play your own photo or continue a saved puzzle". You can also go back and click on the posted puzzle links as many times as you want; so you might work a puzzle for now using just a few pieces, but then you can make the same puzzle much harder at a later time by adjusting the number of pieces. Apparently the puzzle links never expire.

Lastly, you can search for any photo you want on the internet, paste the URL into the top line under "Create a custom puzzle and share it with friends and family", then hit Enter, then click on your new puzzle by clicking "Try it".

If you want to use your own photo, use the "Play your own photo or continue a saved puzzle" link, then hover your pointer over the three horizontal lines in upper left of the bar, then Browse to your photo on your PC:
