I have a NI 5209 and I think it is a great machine. Mine are rubber rolls. Overall, the pros and cons are as follows: it is a lighter machine than NH. But I run a JD 4020 which is now over 50 years old. I want a lighter machine to avoid hurting the tractor. I wanted 9 wide since my rakes and tenders are that size too. My fields are smooth and clean. I sharpen the blades constantly. The cutter bar drive shaft is known to be light and twist under impact loads, but I think I have avoided that problem. I did drive thru a big ground hog mound last year and felt everything lug down. That type thing could twist the cutter bar shaft. There may be improvements on the later machines than mine but I am not sure. Overall, performance and simplicity of the components is good. Thick wet hay is no challenge at all.
