Toured an egg processing plant with the plant manager when I was with PCA. Suddenly something went wrong and the machine started breaking eggs. A little old guy who had been oiling stuff started barking instructions to everybody. He got on his back in the broken eggs and started adjusting things. He would call out for various tools, and they would be handed to him. Manager said the guy had worked for the company that made the machine, and manager had hired him away. He had the machine going again in under 2 minutes. I smiled at the manager and said "I'm surprised that he's not the manager." Manager replied "He doesn't want the job, and besides, he'd have to take a pay cut."
