I went Tuesday and walked out with a bit over $200. Funny thing, out of a pickup load of clean copper, copper wire, clean cast aluminum, irony aluminum, and 100 lbs of aluminum cans, I had 4 large brass/bearing bronze bushings that brought $109 of that $200.
In the future cut plastic ends etc off of wire. The difference in pricing is tremendous between the two. In my case the guy in charge actually helped us cut the ends off of our stuff while at the scrap yard. The way he looked at it, the better the stuff, the better we both do in the end.
This place actually has a resale bay with bolts and nuts, fasteners of other types, wire, conduit, welding wire, etc that they sell at just over what they would get for it. They figure the less they handle it, the more they make outright, over and above what they would otherwise get as straight scrap.
If I didn't have so much stuff already, I'd have probably left owing them more than I got for my stuff...LOL....
