I agree. If the master/slave system is low on fluid, or out of adjustment, or bypassing in the master, it will have limited travel, and not disengage the master clutch. If this is so, fixing the clutch release mechanism will fix much of the issue. If it does, make sure you are stopped when shifting, and put it in a different gear before the one that has a poor syncronizer. THis is a workaround until you decide to do a major repair of the trans. If to joy on the clutch linkage, there could be issues with a warped driven disk, or partially broken pressure plate, that cause drag between the flywheel, and the pressure plate spinning the driven friction disk.
