The head on my 880 gas is cracked in the chamber, between the valves. The machine shop where I take things wants about a grand to repair the crack, by grinding out the crack, heating the entire head, then spray welding to replace the material removed by grinding and seal the crack. I'm guessing this is a good way to fix it and I trust the guy doing it, but I wonder if I can get a similar repair done anywhere for less money. I don't want to pin it, think welding is best. Does anyone have a go to place that might have a more reasonable price? I'm in South west Ohio, but I can travel awhile for the right deal. Thanks!
