If you have a decent counter guy at auto parts store, they can search catalogs or their computer. They should be able to search by the taper size and thread. The right taper might even be able to be re-threaded to fit too.
Another option is drill the taper out and use a spherical rod end (Heim joint), they are strong and readily available. I did this on my tractor that someone cut/welded a bolt to the tie rod so it could thread to the cylinder.
