Back in the 1930's there was a lot of cattle grazing in the mountains where we hike, and the ranchers built these tanks. They had to pack in the forms and cement, with pack animals or carry it, no way to get any equipment to the site. they could use the gravel from the stream bed. This one got washed downstream in a flood and didn't break, must have some rebar in it, it's about 16 ft long and 4 ft wide. There is a spring about 1/4 mile upstream, and the remains of a pipe leading down to the tank.
