Assuming this is on a tractor, or a vehicle with a charging system, not a golf cart...
There are many low amp 8v battery tenders available. If this is something only occasionally used, that would be your best bet. It will keep the battery up and ready without overcharging it.
It is highly unlikely the vehicle came with an 8v battery. Unless the regulator has been adjusted up to accommodate the 8v battery, it will not properly charge. It will discharge down to the equivalent of a 6v, which will be of no benefit. If this gets regular use, extended use, then the charging system needs to be working and adjusted properly. If this is a parade tractor, you can get by with starting out the day with a full charge and likely make it long enough to get back on the charger.
Be very careful charging it with a 12v charger, or jumping it from a 12v vehicle. Easy to damage the battery, even cause an explosion!
I don't know of a true 8v charger unless you step up to a heavy duty golf cart charger, which is expensive, unless that's what you have. If it is, then that will be a necessity.

Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
