Paul, I can probably guess where you are. I'm east of you. I don't miss the closed Lowe's. You're right about Menards being the box-store winner here. Yes, lots of products at Menards. It has had the same manager for decades, and he really has a well-organized operation. I was joking with him a while back that a person could be locked inside Menards and live a comfortable life forever unless major medical was needed. It has everything from clothing to toothpaste to TVs to pizza and milk. I've come to know enough floor staffers to know who can answer questions. As you said, much more knowledgeable than in the past. A lot of older folks, not so many high-school sophomores on the crew. Menards prices on most products blow Home Depot away. I avoid the 11% sales because they often aren't that good a deal -- but if you need products in a hurry or things that never go on sale, 11% is OK. As far as having to spend the rebate at Menards, I spend so much there regularly that the rebate is as good as cash.
