I actually had something similar to that happen once. One of my friends has an old International truck. At the time I had one too, and that was kind of a common denominator between us.
About 15 years ago this person had some serious medical issues and was, in fact, in a coma. We went down to see him in ICU. He was totally unresponsive--several other people were there, and nothing anyone said got any kind of response. Finally, when we got ready to leave I said, "Well, Ed, hurry up and get better so we can get out and drive those trucks!" Just like that he squirmed a little and made a funny face! He didn't come to, but it was obvious that my comment had gotten through! We still think of that every once in a while.
