Everyone's situation is different and what makes economic sense for one doesn't for the other. That said a lot of farmers kid themselves about what they need and and fail to separate their wants from their needs and end up getting into money problems or over the course of years have spent on equipment and tractors money that should have been saved back for emergencies, retirement, etc.I have a bunch of old tractors I use to make hay and general work around the farm, really I can't see how having tractors that cost me 10X as much would make me any more money. So why would I spend the money? Really at my age being able to dedicate a tractor to one implement really saves me a lot of time and effort as hooking and unhooking becomes more of a chore all the time.Plus I just really enjoy operating the old machines. My neighbors with the newer tractors spend far more keeping them going than I spend on mine.
