I have a double frame 4/7 with a dry fertilizer attachment on the front frame, and 4 regular length row units on the back frame plus 3 interplants on a longer mount. Planter is set up for no til corn at 30 inches, and no til beans at 15. The double frame allows you to add a no til coulter to the front frame as well as a unit mounted coulter. The two frames allow a staggering of the coulters and row units which helps in trashy conditions. The extra space also makes servicing and adjusting easier. If you are not applying fertilizer with the seed, a single frame will work fine....just has a bit less weight per row unit in hard dry no til soils.
