Carefully using heat and lubrication diss assemble. NOW! IF! the threaded portion breaks cut it off at the place where the large portion of the rod starts.{ CAREFULLY} Drill for 1/4 28 fine thread. Cut a 1/4 inch cold rod steel rod to over length by 2 inches thread 1/4 28 both ends [ one end long enough to bottom in the hole in rod]. Install using either high strength lock tight or epoxy. Then cut off extra on other end so the rod total length is same as original measurement. The reason I know this works is because I had to do the exact same operation to my control rods.
