You'd be surprised at the amount of water and sediment/debris you can find in fuel now days.
I buy all mine straight from the pump, and have even found a wasp in the sediment bowl on my service truck.
Not to mention the 'water in fuel' light, that I didn't even know worked until a few years ago, now lights on a regular basis.
With the bio diesel mixes now being marketed, getting the water, and sediment out of it has become a full time job....Where the straight fuel of the past may have had occasional problems, but never to the degree the new junk does, at least not in my experience.
