I've never heard of covering the top of the pack with plastic in a domed upright silo. Sounds like an effort to put off opening the silo up gone very bad. Not sure that running the forage blower attached to the silo fill pipe would have helped in this case. However, I would think that at a minimum I would run the blower before entering and let this be a tragic reminder for those here going into the future to do so. Even if the blower was in the shed and other equipment needed to be moved to get the blower out. Nothing is too big of a pain when it comes to preserving life.
