The problem with drilling soybeans with a drill is that a drill is just a controlled spill. You just can not get good seed spacing and seed placement with a drill. Here (WI) the farmers that were using drills have all went to 30 inch planters. Neighbor simply plants his beans between the existing corn rows and gets great stands. We split rows for a few years to get 15 inch but several neighbors had plots that showed no advantage to rows less than 30 inches. Very few drills are going to do a good enough job planting into the residue from 180-200 bu corn. Planters can be set up with row cleaners to do the job and do it well. We have a Deere 7000 setup with combo no-till coulters and row cleaners. Our beans ran 70.5 bu to the acre across the scales this fall. Tom
