About the carbon build up -- this was very true in the past but "supposedly" now with the alcohol in the gas now we arnt suppose to have carbon buildup any more in combustion chambers. I have found this to be true with my limited checking -- I would be willing to bet that your valve clearances have worn to the point that you have next to nothing for clearance. When the engine gets hot your clearance decreases even more lifting the valves off the seats . Wont cost any thing to check this unless you tear a gadget/twist off a bolt-- just takes some time . Bet it sounds nice when running good with the duel exost and twin mufflers .
