You are 100% correct with things changing about 20 years ago.....Todays tires are junk... I have yet to wear out a gooseneck trailer tire or a dually truck tire...They all separate at 6 years old or less or before the tread is half gone...Several never made it past 1000 miles...
My SIL has a 1991 Olds Cutlass Ciera with 27,000 miles on it...It still has two original tires that are run on the rear and they look good..Todays tires would be long gone at that age..
