If you can build a rack...like a loft but lower, maybe 2' off the ground, then your hay will stay fine. The dollar value of lost hay in the bottom row over several years will pay for the lumber. I never put hay on the ground. In some parts of the country it works, I know. But not where there is a lot of ground moisture and humidity.
