In most cases to get reversed rotation the armature is wound differently( the offset from windings to commutator bar is opposite of standard rotation) to reverse the magnetic field in the armature windings. As Paul says,If you want to crank an engine with it you also need a starter drive with the overrunning clutch set up for opposite rotation.
