Check your yellow pages for a local automotive electric rebuilder (starters, generators and alternators). You may be able to have that one rebuilt for $45 to $65. if you can find a rebuilt one from a parts supplier it will likely be $85 or more plus the core charge. A new one would be scary to think about. Large or small we have always chosen to have our tractor starters rebuilt. The local shop in my area can do starters or alternators for Kubota, Mitsubishi and Yanmar as well as the domestic brands. I have not asked about any others.
