Actually Bob,they do have it right for an original A.On an A the power goes to the coil directly,out the other side,and THEN up to the ignition switch.When you turn the switch on the power then goes to the points through that cable.If you put a test light on the coil as set up originally you have juice all the time.But,until it is grounded that power does nothing in the coil.Also,with the original switch,(not that replacement one) when in the off position the points are grounded.So,if anybody did manage to cut into the cable to hot wire it,the hot wire would just short to ground.For a doodlebug there would be no need for wiring it that way.
