I had my 6v generator rewired for 12v on my IH Super C; the price was less than $100.00 and it works great. Any good battery/generator/starter shop ought to be able to help you out. I'm no expert in this and am running on memory, but the tech who did it said that it's important to make sure that a low-RPM field coil is installed. If an automotive-type field coil is installed, the generator's output will be insufficient because a tractor engine, under normal conditions, doesn't turn fast enough to charge the battery.
