When alternators first used on cars

Someone was asking a few weeks back when alternators were introduced. I was just going through a storage area tonight and found some Hot Rod magazines from the early sixties. The May 1961 issue carried an article on Alternators written by Don Francisco. The article says Chrysler introduced the alternator on the new 1960 Valiant and then made it standard equipment on all Chrysler Corporation cars.

Just thought I would pass this along as it is from a source of the time.
