yes you can remove the block with the pistons in it.makes it a little harder to handel though because you have the extra weight of the pistons and rods,and the rods sticking out of the bottom.if i cant get them loose in the tractor i take the block and pistons out to gether and press them out.use lots of penatrating oil i have seen blocks busted doing this
