I had one that you removed the boards to empty untill I had to move last spring. Hauled many a load with it. You could not dump while moving to spread the gravel like I believe that bottom dump could do. That bottom dump would have cost more than a farmer could afford tho and the removeable floor unit if the farmer has any timber on the farm that would make a saw log and a sawmill where he could haul the saw logs to could have one made for his use and to size he needed. The one I had was either my grandfathers or one his dad had that died in 1906 and grandpa died in 1978. The one I had was getting rotten as it was pulled out of a building for repairs to building that the person doing them quit in middle of job and was outside for a while before I could get it back in. Only needed a couple of dozen nails to build one of the loose boards ones. I have seen the bottom dump ones years ago. If you made a living hauling gravel then you could have afforded the bottom dump unit. The farmer paid his taxes by hauling gravel to repair the county roads with his loose board bed.
