My dad was in the Canadian Navy during WWII on a Corvette. He said they were on parade once during training in Halifax and the officer that was walking up and down the rows of sailors asked the guy next to my dad something like .... "Where you from sailor?" to which the young guy answered, "Spud Island sir." My dad thought that was pretty cool and told it many times.
