If you look on the Discussion Forums page (the page where you select which forum you wish to visit), you will see a column that shows the number of posts in each forum. You'll notice that none of the numbers shown is over 500. Part of the maintence of the site is maintaining a maximum number of posts in each forum. This is to make the site/forum manageable and keep access speeds reasonable. The posts removed from the active forum are placed in the archives. The more active the forum, the faster a post will "disappear". If you look in the archives you should see your older posts.
