Mike, John Deere came out with the "R" in 1949. Ser. # 1000. The "R" was only avaliable in Diesel. Last one built was ser # 19485 in 1954. Now your writer could have been refering to another term for kerosene. It is diesalet. But I can't spell it. Can't help you on '39 ford. I was just born in that year. But haveing been around old stuff I have never seen one. Later Norman
