There are a couple of areas to check before buying one of the older Deeres.
First problem area is the variator - it gets worn and will not operate smoothly. I have had good luck rebuilding them but it's a couple hours work and a machine shop bill under $100. Second area is the rear hubs get worn and let the wheel wobble. Good used hubs are available on eBay.
They are very similar to the "square fender" 110 and 112 built from 1968 to 1974. The first tractors of that 200 series were built in 1975 and the last ones were built in 1985. There were some changes in the tractors over the years. Early tractors have manual PTO and later versions had electric PTO. The brake band can lose its friction material - you can use construction adhesive to put it back on. You should start it and drive it before purchasing. The transmissions are noisy - they howl. The Kohler engines can have a characteristic knock in the valve train.
