Maybe its running a little lean at that particular RPM and is getting the plugs hot. Dieseling is or was common on Chevy carbed engines, thats why a lot of them had electric idle solenoids so the fuel and air got shut off with the key. If it continues to do that, I would be looking at cooler plugs, then carb settings and /or crank seals.
