That piston barrel may have a round hole where the ball goes in,and kind of a slot the shank of the ball rides in once the ball has been pushed through the hole.You have to push or pull the piston barrel to slide it to the point of the widest part of the hole,to remove it.When they are worn and have taken a set,you will swear that ball was pressed in there.If you clean around it,you will be able to see it.I do know cleaning around that ball stud with the cup/boot seal is almost impossible.I did one years ago,but that one had the two piston setup,one piston on each side.
