Unless there is a way to safely cut the original assembly and repair it with the proper size hose with the proper curve, I would not risk it.
Seldom can one of the factory assemblies be repaired.
But back to your question about hose quality, really impossible to tell. Used to be looking at the end, the better hoses had more reinforcing string, string all the way around about as close together as possible. The cheap hose would only have a few, spaced far apart.
But now there are problems with the rubber compounds. No way I know of to tell by looking. The poor quality will rot within a very short time, see it on hoses and tires, other rubber products. So many companies choose to outsource their products, relying on the name, but sacrificing quality.
About the safest answer would be to buy the factory assembly. Sometimes you can find a better price online instead of going to the dealer, if time allows.
